Our privacy approach

Wattle View is designed to keep most app data on your device. You provide your own authorised media source, and Wattle View does not operate, sell or supply television channels, movies, series or other media streams.

Information Wattle View handles

Depending on the features you use, Wattle View may handle:

• media-source details you enter, such as provider server address, playlist URL, EPG URL, username and password
• catalogue and programme information returned by your chosen media provider
• local viewing information such as favourites, saved titles, recent channels, watch progress, completed history and intro markers
• a pseudonymous device identifier used only to manage the three-day trial
• Google Play purchase and entitlement status for the Wattle View lifetime unlock
• microphone audio and recognised text when you explicitly use Voice Search

Wattle View does not require a Wattle Pixel Co account for the Android launch version.

Your media source and provider credentials

You choose and configure your own authorised Xtream-compatible or M3U media source. Provider credentials are stored locally on your Android device using encryption backed by the Android Keystore.

Wattle Pixel Co does not receive or store your provider username, password, playlist URL or EPG URL on its servers as part of normal source setup or playback.

Wattle View connects directly from your device to the provider address you configure. Your chosen provider may therefore receive your network address, device connection information, requests and any credentials required by that provider. The provider's own privacy practices and terms apply to those connections.

HTTP and HTTPS sources

Some media providers still require unencrypted HTTP connections, so Wattle View permits both HTTP and HTTPS source addresses. If you configure an HTTP source, information sent between your device and that provider, including credentials or media requests, may not be protected by HTTPS encryption. Where your provider supports HTTPS, we recommend using it.

Viewing activity stored on your device

Wattle View stores viewing-related information locally so features such as Continue Watching, favourites, saved titles, recent channels, watched status and playback resume can work.

This information is kept in app storage on your device and is not transmitted to Wattle Pixel Co for analytics, advertising or profiling.

Removing the app or clearing its app data may remove local viewing information, subject to Android's platform behaviour.

Three-day trial entitlement

Wattle View uses a small Wattle Pixel Co entitlement service to prevent the free trial from being restarted repeatedly on the same Android device.

The app derives a pseudonymous value from its Android package identity and the device's Android ID, then hashes that value before sending it to the entitlement service. The raw Android ID is not sent to Wattle Pixel Co.

The entitlement service applies an additional server-side HMAC before storage. The stored trial record contains the pseudonymous device hash, trial start and expiry times, last-seen time, platform and app version.

This information is used only for trial eligibility, entitlement operation, security and abuse prevention. It is not used for advertising or behavioural profiling.

Google Play purchases

The Android version of Wattle View offers a one-time lifetime unlock through Google Play. Google processes the payment under Google's own terms and privacy practices.

Wattle View uses Google Play Billing to display product and pricing information, start the purchase flow, check whether the lifetime product is owned, restore the purchase and acknowledge a completed purchase.

Wattle Pixel Co does not receive or store your full payment-card number through Wattle View. Google Play may provide the app with limited purchase status and transaction entitlement information needed to unlock the product.

Voice Search and microphone access

Wattle View requests microphone permission only when you choose to use Voice Search. Voice Search uses the speech-recognition service available on your Android device.

Wattle Pixel Co does not receive or store your microphone recording or voice transcript. Recognised text is used in the app to perform the search.

Your device's speech-recognition provider, which may be Google or another system service, may process audio or recognised text according to that provider's own privacy policy and device settings.

Search, catalogue and provider metadata

Text searches performed in Wattle View are used to search the catalogue available in the app. Wattle Pixel Co does not operate a search-history service for Wattle View and does not use your searches for advertising or profiling.

Media titles, categories, artwork, programme information and other catalogue data are supplied by your chosen provider or by third-party services used for an explicitly selected feature.

Trailers and third-party content

When you choose to play a trailer that is hosted by YouTube or another third-party service, Wattle View may connect to that service. The third party may receive normal network and device information and may process information according to its own privacy policy.

Wattle Pixel Co does not control the privacy practices, availability or content of media providers or third-party services selected or used through the app.

Analytics, advertising and sale of data

The current Android launch version of Wattle View does not include advertising, advertising trackers or Wattle Pixel Co behavioural analytics.

Wattle Pixel Co does not sell your personal information.

Routine infrastructure, security or delivery logs may be processed by service providers that operate Wattle Pixel Co's entitlement service or by third-party services you choose to access.

Service providers and international processing

Wattle Pixel Co uses service providers to operate limited parts of Wattle View. These may include:

• Cloudflare for entitlement-service hosting, security and infrastructure
• Google Play for app distribution, Play Billing and purchase restoration
• the Android speech-recognition service available on your device when you use Voice Search
• media providers and third-party content services that you choose to connect to or access

These providers may process information in countries outside Australia in accordance with their own terms, privacy policies and infrastructure arrangements.

Data retention

Provider credentials and viewing activity remain in local app storage until you remove them, clear app data or uninstall the app, subject to Android platform behaviour.

Trial-entitlement records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to enforce trial eligibility, prevent repeated trial resets, maintain service security and meet legitimate operational or legal requirements.

Purchase records are primarily managed by Google Play under Google's retention practices.

Security

Wattle View uses reasonable technical measures designed to protect information under our control. Provider credentials are encrypted locally using Android Keystore-backed encryption, and Wattle Pixel Co's entitlement endpoint uses HTTPS.

No system can guarantee absolute security. Security of media-provider connections also depends on the source address and provider you choose.

Your choices

You can:

• decline microphone permission and continue using text search
• remove or edit saved media sources in Wattle View
• clear local app data through Android settings
• contact us with privacy questions or requests relating to information held by Wattle Pixel Co

Because the trial identifier is pseudonymous and is not stored with your name or email address, we may need additional information to determine whether a particular entitlement record can be associated with your device.

Children

Wattle View is a general-purpose media player and is not specifically directed to children. The content available through Wattle View depends entirely on the media source configured by the user. Parents and guardians are responsible for selecting appropriate providers and content.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Wattle View's features, service providers or data practices change. The latest version will be published on this page with the updated date shown above.
